Summer

What a fascinating world we live in - What marvels to behold - What abundance - when we fearlessly look closely AND from a distance in the same breath!

From the intricate network of dandelion down to the far reaches of outer space, we are constantly reminded of how limitless our world is and how simply divine we are. Contemplating planet earth and her potential transformation, it becomes clearer every day that if we are to be successful at returning this land to its original pristine beauty - we must without a doubt begin with ourselves. The fascinating side effect of that concept is that as our own transformation continues, everything quickly falls into place. Create peace and it is known to spread out around you, for the higher vibration it resonates gently draws in that which is immediately around it.

We have Swung into Summer - on vibrations of love and abundance! Like a child gliding through the air in the playground, co-creating with wood and rope — together we are flying through the air. That same child within reminds us this season to feel the wind on our faces, gently changing the patterns of our inner worries. A small change of perspective and the tedious workworld becomes a playground once again. Does one do the awful chore of washing the dishes or choose to fill the sink with water and soapy bubbles and play until the dishes are clean. We enter a powerful season of choices. Warmed by the great sun above us, it is a good time to reflect on the state of our Body Mind and Soul/ Spirit.

This issue is especially reflective of vibration - from the voices of the mighty whales, the sounds of music, the consciousness of crystals, the dance of dragonfly wings, to the power of our inner consciousness to miraculously heal ourselves...each page you turn has something to say. Each one a voice sharing a piece of the tapestry.

If ever there was a time to stand up and be counted, to hold fearlessly your own values and truth and give others the right to do the same...then the time is NOW. If ever there was a window of energetic opportunity to join together as a world family for positive change... again the time is NOW. If ever there was a compassionate consciousness rising, calling out to individuals to join as ONE heart standing for the freedom of ALL - The Time IS Now!

The Crystal Pup
1985-2004

Our Dearly Beloved Friend - oh how our eyes weep tears of love for you today. Blessed new journey through the puppy-paths of Light. May your good heart and gentle ways continue be an inspiration for those ancient ones who surround you on all levels.

On your page today - the one so many say they turn to first with each new issue, we celebrate the great number of years you gifted us with. For such a small pup - your life was long beyond norm. Your generous spirit a constant, your devotion impeccable, your appreciation for the kindness bestowed on you something we strive to emulate, your good humour in all situations - a hard follow - yet learn from you we have. Going to press without your familiar “woof” seems impossible in this moment and yet so deep was your love - no doubt ALL your EAGLEye friends can feel wooly fur snuggle in beside them still.

We believe your favorite felines who transcended before you, Ms Kitty, LapiStar, Opus, Amethyst sprang out joyfully to greet you...just like in the old days at home when you were beginning your new career as a writer. Over the past 11 magazine years, you taught us (2-leggeds) afraid to learn new things, to rise above our mistakes, to see challenges as opportunities, unconditionally and to forgive freely without question...and we thank you for that!

What a tireless voice for the 4-leggeds you have been. Perhaps now, in your new “agelessness” as your favorite summer season turns to fall…perhaps now as we celebrate your life, you will to communicate with us in another way. May the wagging of your tail through our dreamtime, as we continue to adventure together in a new But NOW, in the reality of this moment, know as vibrations transcend move through all time and space, simply KNOW — within the drumbeat of our hearts — WE LOVE YOU! STILL and ALL-ways!

Constructive Living: More of the Basics

Last issue we looked at some of the basics: are we eating healthy food, getting enough exercise, and sleeping 7-8 hours a night? This is the starting point for most other change. For most of us, if we aren’t taking care of these basics it will be a whole lot more difficult to become that loving and kind person we want to be, especially with those we live with. Of course there is more. While we are establishing that new routine we can also learn or re-learn some of the basics of good mental fitness as well. This one for instance: the ability to make clear distinctions between those things that are controllable by us (our behaviour) and those that are not.

What’s controllable and what is not?

Many times we look to others to change, so that we can have a better life. The truth is we are setting ourselves up for frustration and even victimhood when we are counting on others to be different than they are. Anyone who observes human behaviour draws a similar conclusion: each of us can only control our own words and actions. Whatever we do or say is our choice and if we don’t like the results we are getting, there are almost always better choices we can choose to make. And each of us gets to decide what those choices are. There are no experts out there that knows best what you or I should do, although there are people who can give us information that may be helpful with our choices.

When we truly come to the realization that X doesn’t cause us to lash out in anger nor is X responsible for our happiness or misery, we come to a realistic and healthy view of the world where we can put our efforts into the things we can do something about-our actions- and accept the things we can do nothing about.

Acceptance doesn’t mean passivity or “putting up” with. It is more of a readiness to see how things are and to ask ourselves what we can do with these circumstances. We may ask ourselves, when an obstacle presents itself, what is uncontrollable in this situation and what can I do something about? This distinction makes all the difference when we then put our efforts into our controllable behaviour. This skill is essential even with the things we want to do but keep postponing hoping to get into the right mood, or waiting for perfect conditions.

For example: I want to go back to school but I’m afraid I won’t succeed.

UNCONTROLLABLE CONTROLLABLE
Feelings of inadequacy (they happen to us all) Research the info from the University.
Not being in the mood to do the paperwork. Make an appointment with an academic counsellor.
Feelings of laziness or fear. Find out the deadline.
Not getting a reference from everyone you ask. Fill out the application.
Not getting accepted. Gather all the necessary paper work and letters of referral.
Feeling discouraged Write a cheque for the deposit.
Feeling embarrassed Mail the entire package on time.

While waiting, do the next things in your life that need doing. (don’t put your life on hold)

If not accepted investigate who you can discuss it with and make an appointment.

See what you need to do to up your chances of getting accepted.

Now DO that next thing.

It is true that results are not completely controllable by us but it is important not to close our own doors. Do everything you can to translate your dreams into action even while feeling shy or inadequate or any other feeling. Consider your feelings as perfectly natural under the circumstances, but don’t appoint them as director of your life. Take one step and then the next step and then another towards achieving your goals.

Seeing reality clearly in all of its aspects can only give us freedom. Becoming mentally fit is liberating. Mental fitness is no “quick-fix. It is a life long practice with its ups and downs. We all have unhappy moments. We all get discouraged. But it is what we do in those times that makes all the difference. Distinguishing between the controllable and the uncontrollable is just one of the cornerstones of mental health. Next issue we will look at two more cornerstones- the skill of working with our attention and the skill of seeing the impact of our actions on others.

Assignment: Consider one important thing you have decided to do that you haven’t started and take action now. Attend to the controllable aspects and see what happens.

Organic Gardening: Contemplating Drought Solutions

Summer is here. The sun is shining bright, plants are growing like crazy and the reality of drought is on many of our minds. Our water supply in British Columbia comes mainly from snowmelt and this year began 2 – 4 weeks earlier than expected. Many places are at higher risk for drought and this includes Vancouver Island, unless we receive more than usual amounts of rain in July. As many of us are already on water restrictions there are things we can do to preserve water and keep our gardens alive this summer.

Two main areas we need to consider are soil texture and plants relationship with water.

Soil texture is the proportion of sand, silt and clay within the mineral component in the soil. Soil is made up of 45% minerals, 5% organic matter, and the remaining 50% creates pores (spaces) filled with either water (larger pores) or air (smaller spores) – the amount of each depending on the soil texture. Knowing the texture of your soil can provide information for understanding how water is retained in the soil and how quickly or not it moves through it. This relates directly to how much water you should give your garden and how often you should water it.

To test the texture of your soil, the ‘feel’ method may be used. Keep in mind that this gives us a general idea whether our soil is predominately a sandy soil or more towards the clay side. There are many texture types in the in-between like loam or silty loam but for this a general idea will do. Take a handful of soil and make it moist but not saturated.

You should be able to play with it without it sticking to your fingers or slipping around all muddy. Now try these two tests and see what you feel.

The Graininess Test: Rub the soil between your fingers and feel the graininess. In a sandy soil this will feel like an exfoliate cream.

The Moist Cast Test: Compress the moist soil in your fist. If the soil holds together (then your soil is more towards the clay side. A sandy soil wouldn’t form a solid ball) toss the cast from hand to hand to determine its durability. The more durable the cast, the more clay is present.

In these tests try and determine the mineral (sand, silt, clay) that is the highest. Note it doesn’t take a whole lot of clay in the soil to make it a clay soil. The more you play with the soil it will begin to make more sense to you. So now that we have some idea as to our soil texture we can now understand how much water our soil can take and how often we need to water it.

Sandy soil has large pores as the size of each grain is large and creates space between each mineral for water to move. Each grain of sand being about 2mm is the largest mineral, excluding rocks, found in the soil. So this would mean that water moves very quickly through a sandy soil and is not retained between the mineral particles for very long. This soil needs less watering time (enough to saturate the first 3 -5 inches) and more often (every other day) in really hot weather.

On the opposite spectrum clay soils have the smallest mineral size (less than 0.002mm in size) and contain smaller pores as the minerals are held much closer together. Water moves very slowly through clay soils as it percolates a wide spectrum before traveling downwards. With this soil it takes a longer time to saturate the soil and a longer time drying out. We should water this soil for a longer time frame until 5-6 inches of the soil is wet and we need not water it as often (usually about once a week depending on the weather).

With water restrictions we are limited to how long we can water the garden and which days we are allowed. Keeping these guidelines in mind and understanding our unique situation we can still efficiently use our water. Here is a little example. Right now Mrs. B is watering her garden for 30 minutes 2 times a week. Mrs. B’s soil is predominately a sandy soil. After the first 10 minutes of watering the soil it is saturated and the rest of the water is running right through. If Mrs. B watered her garden for 10 minutes every other day (3-4 times a week) she would be watering her garden about 40 minutes a week. This way she is saving 20 minutes of watering a week and the nutrients held in the soil are not being washed away with the excess water, contaminating the ground water.

Plants absorb most of their water and nutrients from their feeder roots located in the drip line and beyond. To find the drip line of the tree or shrub follow the outside branches and notice where the water would naturally drip down after a rainfall and this is the drip line that forms a rough circle around the plant. When watering we can focus most in this ring and lightly wet the soil inside. This will keep the plant alive and preserve the water in this drought.

You will notice the soil that is not being water will become dry and powdery and may erode in the wind. Put mulch on the soil to protect it as we do in the fall, to help with erosion and evaporation. The living environment in the dry soil will migrate and some will perish. The populations of our organisms will decrease but not cease and when the rains come back in the fall they will migrate again and the cycle of growth continues.

In time of drought we can minimize our use of water without losing our precious plants. Focus on keeping the plants alive and learn to know their resilience. Your garden friends will persist and with a little help from you, return next year, alive and waiting for the abundance of winter melt. Your effort and love for your garden will pay off.

Music Feeds the Soul

Through the ages people have used music to connect with others and to express the human experience. The flow of creativity that accompanies musical expression brings a sense of wellness and meaning to our lives. If you have ever been stirred by a great choir, or drifted into reverie during your favorite song, you have tasted the rich emotional connection that music provides.

Listening to powerful music is deeply moving, but unless you create it yourself, you can’t feel the wholeness of its magic. Picking up an instrument is a type of meditation, a way to sink into the present. When you feel the vibration of music moving through you, time stands still. Music pulls you into the cusp of the moment where there is no past or future, just a felt sense of incredible connection and aliveness.

Unfortunately, the responsibilities of life can overshadow personal passions. The immediacy of careers and children can put your own musical interests on the back burner. There never seems to be enough time to sit at the keyboard when our hectic schedules get the better of us. Often we sacrifice the very things that nurture us, the artistic activities that feed our soul but don’t pay the bills. But it is never too late to brush up on old skills or explore new activities. Even a few minutes at the keyboard a day can nourish your creative spirit. Allowing yourself the opportunity to reconnect with lost musical passions can bring you to continual areas of personal growth.

Returning to the piano after years away can be an intimidating process. What if I can’t play? What if it doesn’t sound the way I want? What if I can’t learn? The quality of the performance doesn’t matter as much as the enjoyment you feel in the act of creation. Music can be shared, but it pleasure; you play for yourself as a way to express, not entertain.

Self-doubt often keeps us from the very things that fuel our confidence. By taking small steps and experiencing the joy of learning, you can open the door on possibility. You don’t have to be a concert pianist to love to play, you don’t have to perform for a crowd to experience gratification. Learning to express yourself through music is not about entertaining others, it is about finding personal joy by connecting with the creativity that flows through you.

There is a poetic quality to music that allows you to find emotion that language can’t describe. You can blast away an angry little piece or tinker with a happy song. Giving your emotions a musical voice allows them to move through you. Music allows you to say things for which there are no words.

Dedicating time to our own interests is not selfish, it is what empowers us to give back to others. By learning to experience the magic of music you can inspire others to remember what activities feed their souls. By having the courage to return to a relationship with music you can inspire others to remember what is important in their lives. It is never too late to learn the joy of music and now is always the time to reconnect with lost passions.

Dragonfly Inspiration

D r a g o n f l i e s ! These creatures with their fascinating habits and abilities, even have names that cannot help but delight us. Black Petaltail, Cardinal Meadowhawk, Twelve Spotted Skimmer, and Muskeg Emerald to name only a few. Some fly at up to 60 mph and their wing arrangement can be organized in multiple ways by a primitive yet very versatile muscular structure that allows them to change both speed and direction instantly. That could be the first clue as to why we are inspired by them.

Dragonflies, among the world’s oldest insect specie, go back around 300 million years. It is speculated that they survived when the dinosaurs became extinct because the dragonfly larva continued to grow under water while the “out of the water” specie were destroyed. In modern times, after the larva leaves the egg it grows and molts many times. The larval stage may last 1 to 6 years depending on the specie and other natural factors before they climb out of the water and metamorphose into an adult dragonfly. They live only a short time as adult dragonflies, about one or two months is usual. They are very efficient predators, carnivorous in that they eat other insects, yet are completely harmless to humans. Their legs form into a basket to catch and hold their prey, while devouring it in flight. Perhaps they invented the concept of ‘fast food”.

It is not easy to capture and preserve dragonflies because they lose their color very rapidly without careful preservation. That is a profound reason to celebrate the beauty of dragonfly colors in the MOMENT! At this point I would like to suggest that if your life is feeling a little hectic, you may want to consider wandering off on a warm summer afternoon into their habitat. When you arrive look around you, REALLY look at all the beauty held in a blade of grass...then sit. Yes, simply sit, and as the sun warms your body, let the colours of the dragonflies heal your soul. No need to talk, BE as a child again -stop-look-listen!

Such actions are sure to inspire you as you observe the colourful parade of light and shadow - the luminosity - so many things to see and feel. My experience with their creative magic went something like this.

Browsing through a garage sale, I discovered a somewhat gaudy little stylish replica of a dragonfly. Thinking it was something that may interest my wife I bought it. She was so delighted I began to tinker with beads and wire and plastic to make something I considered to be more attractive.

I AM a senior and making dragonflies at my age is not something I ever intended to do. Yet when I reflect on our winged friends and learn from their ancient world, I understand more and more that age has nothing to do with creativity. I feel the power of life in my heart and learn from these ancient ones that we too must never give up. We need to utilize our limbs for something useful and keep our eyes focused by using them. Most people have noticed that real dragonfly have huge eyes. In fact, each of the two large eyes is made up of over 20,000 smaller eyes of six-sided units. Together, these smaller eyes enable a dragonfly to detect even the slightest movement. They teach us to see what a beautiful multifaced life we can choose to live.

Albert Schweitzer wrote in The Spiritual Life, “Man can no longer live for himself alone. We realize that all life is valuable, and that we are united to all this life. From this knowledge comes our spiritual relationship to the universe.”

It is the rising up to greet the unknown in life, the flying...for however long, that serves us, not laying stagnant in the pond waiting for the inevitable.

So—I made Designer Dragonflies! Soon friends were ordering them for their homes and gardens finding pleasure watching the wings of these creative jewels flutter in the breeze. While nothing can compare to the flash and brilliance of the natural dragonfly; the Designer Dragonfly can be ‘reminders’ of the summers’ brilliant colors that flash and burst into view when the ancient irridescent wings of the Dragonfly come to call!

Tibetan Nuns Project

The Tibetan Nuns Project (TNP) was initiated under the auspicies of the Dept. of Religion and Cultural Affairs of H.H. the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Women’s Association.

The Beginning! A group of 66 refugee nuns appeared overnight on the streets of Dharamsala, India. They had been on a two year pilgrimage from eastern Tibet that had ended in a journey over the Himalayas. Ill and exhausted, they had nowhere to go. The Tibetan Women’s Association organized emergency assistance to provide their basic needs and the Nuns Project was formed to find a long-term solution to the problem of how to secure housing, medical care and most importantly, education for refugee nuns. The Project created a sponsorship program, reaching out to people and foundations around the world to contribute to the effort.

Their mission was to support and educate Tibetan refugee nuns living in exile by:
• Improving standards of food, sanitation, medical care, basic education and training in existing nunneries. • Working towards future self-sufficiency through innovative educational opportunities. • Establishing further facilities for new refugee Buddhist nuns. The Tibetan nuns often arrive with literally nothing but their spiritual devotion to sustain them.

The sponsorship program now supports about 600 nuns in five different nunneries, as well as many living on their own in retreat, representing all the religious orders of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. One of the long-term goals of the program is to enable these women to develop spiritual, academic, and other skills to support leadership roles within the Buddhist communities.

Jeff Davis began his photographic work with “TNP” in 2003. A new calendar, traveling exhibit, and image catalog are planned this year. www.jeffdavisphotography.com

ONE of the bonus experiences of our soujourn into Vancouver, covering the Dalai Lama’s visit was meeting a photographer Jeff Davis at his showing of photos from the Tibetan Nuns project. He spoke with some of these amazing women and here is the essence of what the project is about.

Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama

As I grow older I am surprised at disc o v e r i n g insights and truths that have been so obvious really, I should have found out about them long, long ago.

Talk about the old. They named a school after me somewhere in a small village in the Netherlands. That’s not the important part of the story. The school was celebrating 400 years and my wife and I arrived in the village to attend the celebrations and a little girl came up to me and said “Were you here when the school started?”

The one thing that I wanted to refer to is this extraordinary message that Jesus, at the resurrection, gave to Mary Magdelene. Those of you who are Christians may remember that Jesus says, “Go and tell” – now he could have said, “Go to tell my disciples.” He could have said “Go and tell my friends because, in this particular gospel he said that is the highest title they can have. He says none of those. He says to her go and tell my brothers that I am ascending to my God and their God, to my father and their father. And I discovered that that is probably the most radical thing that Jesus said. That we are family, that we are family.

Now, can you imagine? You think we are family — this is funny – a very sentimental thing to say family. No! Family, family. You don’t choose family. Maybe times we might wish we could. You don’t choose family. Family are God’s gift to you, as you are to them. And however the member of your family might be, however ghastly, that person will always remain a mem- H.H. The Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond T Tutu utu excerpts from their April visit to Vancouver ber of your family. And family has a particular ethic. You say, from each according to their ability, to each according to their need. Ha! Family. Do you think you would take off in a bomber to raise bombs against those others who happen to be your family?

Would you, would you spend as we do, obscene amounts on what we say are defence budgets? Budgets of death and destruction when we know that a minute fraction of those budgets would ensure that all of God’s children everywhere would have clean water to drink, would have enough food to eat, would have secure homes, adequate health care. Family, family.

And God says, “I have a dream.” Oh yes, Martin Luther King Jr. I heard you say, I have a dream. “I too,” says God, “I have a dream. I have a dream that my children one day will realize that they are family. And in this family there are no outsiders.” All!! All! All! people. When Jesus says “I, if I be lifted up, I will draw,” – he didn’t say I will draw ‘some’ — “I will draw all, all, rich, poor, white, black, red, yellow, beautiful, not so beautiful.” All, all, fantastic, all, all. Gay, lesbian, so-called straight. All, all, all, all, all, all, all!

I told you it is critical, critical in this family. Sharon, Arafat, Bush, bin- Laden, Sadam Hussein. So you see my enemies are certainly not God’s enemies. God has no enemies. Bin-Laden, however we think about him, is still God’s child. And so God said “ALL, ALL belong in this family, held in an embrace of a love that will not let us go. A love that says you are precious to me. I love you with a love that cannot be computed. You are precious, you are special. I love you, I Love You, I Love You!

H.H.: I think, on the ground, all are the same human beings, the same human brothers and sisters. All have good potential, all have the same rights and, with compassionate attitude, due respect and appreciation for all these different religions I think that’s really great.

One of my efforts is the promotion of harmony among the different traditions. On course, I am Buddhist. To myself Buddhism is best but that does not mean Buddhism is the best religion of the world. No! To each people, each individual according to one’s own tradition is best. Like medicine, who can say this medicine is best because it is high priced? You can’t say. Medicine is something to cure illness. So according to the illness, which medicine is best? We have to judge according to the illness.

So similarly, to some people Christianity is best because it is the most effective. To some people Islam is the most effective therefore Islam, for that person, is best. So (we need) mutual recognition, respect or admiration and through that we can learn from each other — each other’s tradition. In fact, according to my own experience and as a result of meeting with (people from) other traditions and (engaging in) serious discussion, serious exchange, has really helped to end my own prejudice.

Certainly all major religions have the same potential to help humanity to increase basic human values. I believe (whether you are) a believer or non-believer in order to have a happy life these basic human values are very, very important. (With) compassion, a sense of community, a sense of responsibility, and so on, a person himself or herself becomes much happier, and wherever that person lives – in the family or in the community – they certainly bring a positive atmosphere.

Therefore, while we are making every effort for material development, there is no point to neglect these our inner human values. So I am quite sure your university, your institution, is a great service to humanity, not only (through) the education of the brain but also (through) taking serious care about basic human values so that the human being becomes more complete.

These two men are certainly an inspiration and their love for each other an example of how the major religions can co-create for the betterment of all.

Resonating With Your Health

Energy or vibrational medicine is based on the Einsteinian understanding of ‘matter as energy’ – all matter, both physical and subtle having frequency. Our bodies are made up of fields within fields within fields of interactive energy and any disturbances of energy flow within these fields can affect us on all levels. Energetic balance is essential for physical, mental, spiritual and emotional well-being.

E l e c t r o - C r y s t a l Rebalancing (ECR) is a form of energy medicine used to detect imbalances in the body’s subtle energy field, release congestion, prevent depletion and restore harmony. It is a technique using a combination of crystals (which have natural healing properties) and pulsed electro-magnetic vibration. Restoring balance will enhances the body’s own naturally healing abilities.

Much of our body is composed of crystalline structure – in our blood, lymphatic system, bones and organs – and it resonates well with the vibrational properties of crystals. Our organs, glands and tissue emit energy consisting of different wavelengths and are affected when there is disharmony. Bacteria, infections and viruses produce unnatural electrical pulsations, which distort signals within the body.

For example, if the energy in a certain area of the body is ‘out of tune’ – by stimulating the contained crystals with the correct pulsed frequencies they can receive, amplify and transmit a healthy signal to the appropriate area, reminding the body’s cells of the ‘normal’ vibrational rate. If there is a blockage in one area it may cause a depletion in the next, causing an interruption of the natural flow of energy.

Our bodies can adapt quickly to changes, good or bad. Say for instance, a large and loud building fan is turned on. It is noisy at first, but you eventually get used to it and learn to ‘live with it’. Then it gets turned off and you realize how quiet and peaceful it is now and adjust back to a relaxed state. Then, it’s on again, and you wonder if it was actually that loud before and how you put up with it – knowing you are much happier when it is gone. We may learn to live with the disharmony around us but we are much better off when things are at peace.

Corresponding with the principals of ancient Ayurvedic medicine, the practice of Electro-Crystal Rebalancing follows the knowledge that there are 7 main chakras (or energy centres) in the body. Each centre spins at its own specific frequency, drawing in energy from the universal energy field and distributing it to the cells of the body via meridians or channels.

Each chakra correlates with the endocrine glands in that area and with the associated emotions. Each chakra also responds to specific color rays and resonates with specific gemstones or crystals. (*In Electro-Crystal Rebalancing the colors vary slightly from the classic rainbow lineup.)

For example:

• The Brow Chakra or Third Eye - resonates with violet rays (tranquilizing) and Amethyst (infection fighter). The Electro-Crystal Rebalancing Generator associated gland is the pineal gland. Balancing the energy in this area can help with such things as stress, anxiety, sleep disorders and depression. Intuition and knowledge are related to this area.

• The Solar Plexus Chakra resonates with green rays (associated with balance) and gemstones such as jade (blood cleanser/helps reduce excess heat). The associated glands are the adrenals. Imbalances in this area can affect digestion, energy level and blood pressure. An imbalance in the solar plexus energy can also play a part with personal power, fear, self esteem and survival instincts.

As scientists begin to understand the relationship between the vibrational patterns of sound and the structure of matter, we are seeing new applications of energy for healing. British scientist and inventor Dr. Harry Oldfield is one of these people. Dr. Oldfield invented the method of Electro- Crystal Scanning and Rebalancing more than 20 years ago.

How it works:

Electro-Crystal Scanning - a special meter is used to obtain a 3-dimensional numerical analysis of the subtle energy field. Detailed measurements are recorded in decibels to detect depletion or inflammation in the energy field. Regardless of the condition or symptom the physical body is dealing with the procedure is always the same. Once the analysis is complete a rebalancing session is done.

Electro-Crystal Rebalancing - a battery-operated generator produces pulsed electro-magnetic signals and is connected to tubes filled with various crystals in a conductive solution. The tubes are placed on the subject (be it human, plant or animal!) and the depleted or inflamed areas receive frequency–specific energy through the contained crystals to restore balance and harmony. It is a very gentle, noninvasive method of assessing and restoring balance.

The length and frequency of sessions vary and much depends on the client’s history, commitment to long-term realignment, level of vitality and speed of response. However, it is not uncommon to feel results immediately after a session. (Sessions are usually once a week and scanning is repeated once a month to monitor any changes.)

It is important to nourish the body as a whole – energetically, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Electro-Crystal Rebalancing works on a subtle level to correct imbalances which may be causing disharmony. Keeping your body ‘in tune’ for good health is as important as keeping your car or piano tuned for best performance.

The Various Schools of Feng Shui

One of the greatest secrets to understanding Feng Shui, is to realize that there are a variety of schools and teachings based on different cultures and beliefs. By unravelling the schools of Feng Shui you can work with the second great secret — the power of your intention. Edgar Cayce said “thoughts are things” and if we direct our thoughts we can make things happen. Thoughts are energy, the first step to manifest in the material world. (Also why we often say “be careful what you wish for!”). Mudras, mantras, prayer and affirmations are all wonderful methods of reinforcing any Feng Shui cure. Choose a method that feels natural and fits with your culture, faith or has great appeal to you.

The goal of Feng Shui is to improve all aspects of one’s life by improving one’s surrounding environment. All is One. We affect our environment - and it affects us right back! The dynamic forces (yin and yang) within and around us, need to be kept in balance in order to create harmony. (“walking between the magnetic fields of yin and yang” or in Zen Buddhism “going through the gateless gate”)

Let’s take a look at the different options available to create your sacred space:

Intuitive Feng Shui. This is the evaluation of spaces through how the rooms “feel”. Smudging, dowsing, affirmations and intention are usually a part of the process. My personal favourite author for Intuitive Feng Shui is Denise Linn, her books are also based on Western Feng Shui.

Western Feng Shui. Western Feng Shui-ers use the front door as the guideline for energy distribution. Words like ‘prosperity corner and clutter clearing accompany this method. Sarah Rossebach has written brilliant books on the subject.

Life Aspirations This is the blending of Western and Classical Feng Shui, incorporating compass directions with the life guas of the Western bagua.

Landform uses architecture and the shape of the land to identify auspicious areas. It explains the rationale for office desk, bed and stove placement. The black turtle, green dragon, white tiger and crimson bird are referred to in Landform Feng Shui. Most Feng Shui books touch on Landform in the beginning chapters. This is the place to start your Feng Shui journey.

East West (Classical) Using the occupants’ birthdays and the sitting of the house, the most favourable directions for those within the home are determined. A compass is always referred to in East West Feng Shui.

Eight House. (also known as Eight Palace, Eight Mansions) (Classical) Usually used in combination with East West Feng Shui, introduces the use of the five elements of nature and the seasons of the year. A “bagua or pa kua” with intersecting lines is used for Eight Mansions Feng Shui. Believe it or not, The Idiots Guide to Feng Shui, 2nd Edition, is outstanding for classical Feng Shui.

Flying Star (Classical) The most complex method of Feng Shui. Flying Star incorporates the components of space and time. Landforms, compass directions, birthdates, and construction dates are all important.

All schools are working with energy, which should be respected and honoured. If we can remember that we are a part of the energetic whole, then we can work to keep tranquil in our thoughts, balanced in our bodies, harmony in our homes and peace in our world.

The Tarot Cards: Another Kind of Story

When I was a small boy, my older sister took it upon herself to read me a bedtime story before I went to sleep every night. The book she chose was: The Water Babies by C h a r l e s Kingsley. Each night for a number of weeks, she parked herself on the edge of my bed, and read several pages from the book.

I came to know the characters, and felt their joys and sorrows; I saw in my minds eye, the people, the creatures and landscapes, and I understood the story’s moral background.

But beyond all that, I was most aware of my sister; of her focused concentration and the pitch of her voice. I could tell she was feeling the story as she told it; that she wanted me to understand the meaning behind the words. I listened to the sound of her fingers with the soft turning of the page. I watched her expressions as the story unfolded, and I knew we shared a world that commenced with the simple decision she made, to read me a bedtime story.

This was the point at which I understood us as brother and sister, and it heralded a turning point in my awareness. It is the point at which I decided to become a reader. Not a reader of books, but a reader of the subtle engagements of the present. These many years later still find me sharing the pleasure of stories; fictions of daily life, brought to me by people who want a reading.

There are many reasons people seek out readers or psychics. Sometimes it is merely the desire to know if it’s really possible for someone to “know all about you”. If I tell you what color gown you wore at your prom, will your reading become more real? Will this knowingness bring you greater understanding? A reader must do more than merely confirm details which occupy a client’s life. Readings liberate us by helping us move beyond fragments of details in our daily lives and move us toward a broader sense of meaning and purpose.

Small details are the stuff of our personal lives. Fiction serves as the disguise for a moment of clarity. Just under the surface of your daily detail lays a subtle perspective. A reading serves as a tool to excavate your perspective and reveal a richer dimension of life.

Karuna Reiki® - A Positive, Loving Way

Karuna Reiki® was founded by William Lee Rand, and evolved out of Usui and Tibetan Reiki from a desire and knowingness that there is always something greater waiting to be uncovered. The love of the Creator is unbounded and because of this, there is no limit to the good that can come to those who seek. No matter how wonderful something is there can always be more. And so it was out of this understanding that Karuna Reiki® began to manifest here on Earth.

Karuna is a Sanskrit word that means compassionate action and not an ordinary kind of compassion, but one that comes from an unbounded sea of love. This kind of compassion when combined with wisdom can take one to enlightenment.

Once enlightened, all those who have followed this path are compelled by the great love that has grown in their hearts to turn their attention toward reducing suffering and helping others to become enlightened also.

With Karuna Reiki® it is recommended that to gain the full benefit one must be ready. With one’s energy system must first be conditioned through the use of the Reiki master energies. Once this conditioning has taken place, one’s energy system can more easily adjust to the higher potentials available. In addition, the experience one gains as a Reiki master allows one to make better use of the new healing tools Karuna Reiki® provides. Because the energy is stronger the potential for healing is greater.

Karuna Reiki® has two levels and eight symbols. Each of the eight symbols brings with it a different frequency and a different way of helping the healing process. There is a symbol to reduce pain and prepare for deep healing, one to heal deeply, one to fill the client with love, one to ground for the first level, while the second level symbols heal the mind and links you more strongly with your Higher Self, manifest goals and creates priorities, helps you to claim your power while healing co-dependence as well as the earth, creating trust in life while healing fear and panic, healing insomnia and increasing clairvoyance. The symbols with Karuna® one are generally used in sequence, while intuitively activating the others from Karuna® two as needed during the session. Karuna brings in healing energies that are noticeably stronger and more able to heal a wider range of difficulties.

The above introduction from the Karuna Reiki® Manual, was written by and printed with permission of William Lee Rand, the founder of Karuna Reiki®.

I believe the time has come for us to tap into a higher frequency, in tune with the rapidly evolving energies available to us. Karuna is a positive and powerful way to achieve this while bringing in unconditional love and kindness with the wisdom of compassionate action. Whether you are already a Reiki Master or just now realising a deep desire to become further enlightened, you may like to work on encompassing Karuna Reiki® as a positive tool for healing on all levels as well as for our planet.

Eckankar

I had my first recollection of a past life while I was walking the hallways of my high school in grade 8. I suddenly thought to myself “Oh no! Here I am again in school!” My mother had introduced me to ECKANKAR a few years earlier after she read the book “ In My Soul I Am Free” by Brad Steiger. She was intrigued with Paul Twitchell’s life story as described in this book and his explanation of ECKANKAR and shared this with me. Thus begun my life-long study of ECKANKAR.

The full title of ECKANKAR is ECKANKAR, Religion of the Light and Sound of God. We need the Light and Sound of God to guide us on our journey home to God. Often people say they hear a ringing in their ears and will seek out medical attention when all it is, is the sound of God calling them home. People talk about seeing the “blue light” or a “white light” either in a dream or during the waking state. These are all reminders of the presence of God in our daily lives.

These are some of the things I love about ECKANKAR. I don’t ever feel alone, I have a purpose for living, I know that I am loved, I know I am on my way home, it helps me understand the world as it is today and enables me to see the love that is all around.

I recently read a story about how business executives, when experiencing a true wilderness experience for the first time, are known to cry. The executives may be crying because they recognize some deep inner truth as they experience the love and perfection of Mother Nature. Perhaps for the first time in many years they have taken the time to get away from the hubbub of daily life and are asking themselves: “Why don’t I do this more often; just take time out and remember why I am here and what I am doing and where am I going?”

The same is true of our journey home to God. Most of us don’t know we are on such a journey until we have a life changing experience like getting a diagnosis of cancer, or having a near death experience. Then we start to realize that life is not about how much money we can make or material goods we can acquire before death, but about the people we are surrounded with and the love we feel. The path of ECKANKAR is all about love.

Everyone is Soul, a higher being that has a physical body. This body is our temple through which we can learn more about life. Soul is a spark of God and as such is all-powerful, all knowing and all loving but doesn’t realize it. So we are placed here on planet Earth to learn more about our spiritual destiny. However, it is not for us to be like monks and retreat to the hilltops and spend our life in seclusion contemplating on the laws of love and God. It is our spiritual destiny to learn and through our experiences, to share and learn from our fellow human beings. I ask myself during my dealings with people: “What can I share with you, what can I learn from you.”

ECKANKAR encompasses the basic tenants of karma and reincarnation or what we prefer to call “The law of cause and effect”. A big problem with today’s society is we do not always take responsibility for our actions. This can take the form of something as simple as hitting a car in the parking lot and causing some slight damage but not saying anything about it because no one saw you do it. So the person says nothing and goes about his life thinking that all is fine. Perhaps much later, long after the person has forgotten the incident, his wallet might be stolen and he will feel very hard done by. But the exact amount of money that was stolen was the amount he would have paid had he taken responsibility for his previous actions. On top of the money being stolen was the hassle of replacing all the stolen credit cards, driver’s license etc. Now this person, from the moment his wallet was stolen, feels like the victim. He does not associate his previous actions to the current one and this is where the trouble begins. Our society does not teach self- responsibility so this person does what every one else does, try and get away with as much as possible for as long as possible. This example is not meant to make people feel guilty about everything that happens to them, but only to help them begin to realize that everything happens for a reason and the lesson in life is to understand why. Richard Maybury, in his book “Whatever Happened to Justice?” cites two laws that succinctly sum up the idea of personal responsibility. First, do all that you have agreed to do and second do not encroach on other persons or their property. If everyone followed these two laws, life on this planet would be significantly different. I take responsibility for what happens in my life. I may not understand immediately why things happen but eventually an understanding comes and it is all meant to teach me more about the laws of love and God.

One can constantly be in communication with a Divine presence. I have a running conversation with God all day long about what I should do next in my life, although I must admit that I need to listen more to the answers! Life is a momentto- moment experience and God is with us with our every breath no matter what religion we follow. If you find yourself in some trouble you can repeat to yourself the universal name of God, HU, and this will help to open your consciousness to divine spirit and help resolve the situation. Many people have reported miracles when they do this in times of danger and the hand of God will step in. Often the very problems we have in life are due to the fact that we are not listening to God and doing it our way!

Harold Klemp the spiritual leader of ECKANKAR has written over thirty books and his latest is “Past Lives, Dreams and Soul Travel”. Many people have an interest in these phenomenon and this book provides tools we can use to come to understand why we are here, where we come come from and where we are going. As a soul I experience freedom and the responsibility that accompanies it which makes my journey home to God a challenging but rewarding experience.

LightONLight

In the beginning Dearly Beloveds you were all ONE with ALL that is. You were the purest of the pure, the greatest reflection of the light - THE ONES who were the ancient keepers of the Love of the Mothers. You were in truth, nothing but love. Imagine a consciousness devoid of jealousy, hatred, resentment, fear or any of the emotions that bind you now to the tethering post of your planet.

It is written in the pages of your history that so great was your love that willing you were to temporarily give up your ALL, your state of bliss to be part of an energetic experiment so grande the ramifications of your actions had the potential to change the patterns of the entire Universe itself. It is said you left joyfully, with great excitement, for never had there been a challenge such as this.

…and suddenly, before you could catch your new breath…darkness descended upon you. …what a shock this was oh gentle wise ones, so dense and so much more than you had been prepared for. Your reactions varied one to the other, but believe that the emotions covered everything from outrageous anger that caused you to shrivel up in hatred and revenge - to such determination to find the love and joy and truth you could not quite remember, you set your course to be successful as quickly as possible. And time passed slowly into the now!

Many of you notice now this most amazing frequency of challenges…to the core of your earthly being you must stretch, to once again connect with the source of your beginnings. The Mother-Father-Love of the Dove begins to return to your consciousness and many of you are ecstatic at how the miracles unfold around you when you resonate once again from this place. Feel you do the potential of these times you live in now – such times of creation – such times for dissolving old energetic patterns that do not serve you any more – such potential beyond your wildest dreams. Some of you are already aware that time has speeded up (as you would say) you have already bypassed on an energetic level, much of the karmic consequences…so much so that your world now already resonates with the new ray of loving transformation. It is simply a matter of your earth time to bring it to completion. Many of you wait for your year of the twelve (2012) to be the great key to the ascension process (as some of you call it) but we tell you, the year of the twelve has already come and gone on many levels.

…and so the challenge now is for you to remember that you came here not just for yourselves, but to also assist the others who are still trapped in the shadows. Call desperately they do for your love and forgiveness. ..that is why they cause trouble in your world. Reach out to them we beg of you – spread this love you can on all levels. Ever so capable you are of divining a new pattern of love and forgiveness. Remain true to the one light within you and stretch your imagination to see the shadow dwellers rising up to join you as the portal of Divine Potential remain open for yet another pocket of time to facilitate the expansion of LIGHTonLIGHT.

…but now the challenge resonates to those who for eons have hidden in the safety of the shadows, in the network of the almighty dollar, gathered in circles of mass numbers to protect old patterns of destruction. The reality is there is no longer room for those old conscious ill-feelings you sometime harbour for others – there is no space for disharmony within your circles of light…fear, jealousy, hatred, revenge do not survive in the new template. Thus it is we ask you to rise up beyond your normalacy..BE the burst of heartfelt blessing from the triad of love..stretch your wings of transformation – spread your wings to gather round you in safety, those who cry out to belong to this vibration of high heart. Welcome those seeking a new intention to join your family without judgment.

Yet know if you are one who seeks to be a greater reflection of love to move beyond your old ways of abuse and destruction – know this is not a time to waffle in your intentions – and know if you are one of the ones already awakened to this new reality of creative possibilities – neither is running back and forth from love to hatred acceptable – by this we mean showing love on one hand and plotting harm in one way or another for the benefit of the few. Indeed we ask you to dig deep within your perfection to find that spark that assists those in trouble instead of being the the one to ignite fires of fear and instability.

Oh Dearly Beloveds, all are welcome into the great heart of the all – the actions of your past have built a character plan of who you have been, but now it is time to choose a new presence. The energetic Temples of Light rise up around you and the song of forgiveness sings without restriction…follow me, follow me, follow me home. A wave bursts forth to herald in a new ability to communicate with more of your cocreators. The great pods from your waters echo a challenge to your deepest core to listen to them once again and many of you already do - still more, more they call out…increase your numbers for we are the gigantic ones and long we have waited for this time in our history. The ancient pods from the Temples of Light merging once again with your whales on your planet…come, come to join us in our vigil. Watchkeepers we are, recorders of sound light and colour and oh how we love you. We have the power to energize your waters with your permission with your cooperation and thus to once again BE your energetic guardians of sacred space. Thus we swim for you – with you – in ancient spiraling patterns of transformation.

Ever so precious you are - remember, there is nothing to do - SIMPLY BE Love and Shine From the Inside Out.

Plant Life Concentrates

Plant Life Concentrates are created using Supercritical Fluid Extraction, a high technology process for extracting oleoresins (a combination of the essential oil and plant resin), phyto-nutrients, antioxidants, fixatives, naturally occurring vitamins, and volatiles. This process is done without the use of heat, or hazardous solvents such as acetone, hexane or methylene chloride. Supercritical Fluid Extraction uses CO2 gas under high pressure which reaches a “supercritical fluid” state. Through Supercritical Fluid Extraction the full range of plant life elements in flowers, roots, herbs, leaves, foods, spices and any other botanicals can be extracted in their full and complete integrity!

AMP— Aqueous Molecular Partitioning

The amazing news is that now, for the first time ever, these Plant Life Concentrates are made available to the body through the best natural delivery system ever. . . water! This process is called Aqueous Molecular Partitioning or “A.M.P.” You now have the ability to AMP up your health.

We are literally walking water. Our bodies are comprised of 70% water. Your brain is 94% water. There are various delivery methods for nutritional supplements with limited absorption rates and toxicity risks. Nothing naturally delivers critical micronutrients to the body better than water. Nothing! Due to this “AMP” process, The Plant Life Concentrates are instantly bio-available. You can now simultaneously hydrate your body while AMPing the frequency of your health.

The Properties and Frequencies of Pure Plant Extracts:

The effectiveness of plant extracts cannot be fully understood without some discussion of frequency. Frequency is the measurable rate of electrical energy flow that is constant between any two points. Everything has frequency. Dr. Robert O. Becker in his book “The Body Electric” establishes that the human body has an electrical frequency and that much about a person’s health can be determined by their frequency.

In 1992, Bruce Tainio of Tainio Technology built the first frequency monitor in the world. Tainio has determined that the average frequency of the human body during the day time is 62 - 68 MHz. (A healthy body frequency is 62 - 72 MHz.) When the frequency drops, the immune system is compromised. If the frequency drops to 58 MHz, cold and flu symptoms appear, at 55 MHz, diseases like Candida take hold, at 52 MHz, Epstein Bar and at 42 MHz, Cancer.

According to Dr. Royal R. Rife, every disease has a frequency. He found that certain frequencies can prevent the development of disease and that others would destroy disease. Substances with higher frequency will destroy diseases of a lower frequency. The study of frequencies raises important questions, concerning the frequencies of substances we eat, breath and absorb. Many pollutants lower healthy frequency. Processed/canned food has a frequency of zero. Fresh produce has up to 15 MHz, dry herbs from 12 to 22 MHz and fresh herbs from 20 to 27 MHz. Plant extracts start at 52 MHz and go as high as 320 MHz, which is the frequency of rose. Clinical research shows that essential plant extracts have the highest frequency of any natural substance known to man, creating an environment in which disease, bacteria, virus, fungus, etc., cannot live.

The combination of Supercritical Fluid Extraction and the A.M.P. process emulsifies the whole plant kingdom in its integrity, in water, without the use of any chemicals or heat, making A.M.P. the leading edge of the next generation of health and wellness!

The "Pure Bliss" of Hot Stone Therapy

Hot Stone Therapy is an ancient healing art that has been around for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years. Stones were used by many ancient cultures from Egyptians to Native Americans. Native American cultures still use stones in rituals and ceremonies. The sweat lodge is an excellent example of the ‘healing power’ of stones.

Hot Stone Therapy started in the 1990s and has increased in popularity as the benefits of this wonderful therapy were revealed.

The heat from the stones increases the relaxation response and increases healing through improved circulation. It heightens overall awareness and brings a sense of balance and inner peace that only an interaction with nature can bring. It can be combined with many different healing modalities from massage to reflexology to Reiki just to name a few. When combined with the ancient wisdom of aromatherapy, it promotes harmony and positive energy flow, relaxing the body at its deepest level.

The warmth of the stones penetrates deeply into the muscle tissues giving relief not only to aching muscles, strains and sprains but can improve circulation, rheumatic and arthritic conditions, fibromyalgia, MS, back pain, sinus congestion, stress and anxiety levels and aid in elimination.

The stones used for this therapy can be igneous or fire formed stones such as basalt. These stones are high in iron content and retain the heat well. These stones are often found in river beds. On a vibrational level these stones are stimulating and intense. Some practitioners therefore prefer the gentler energy of the age old metamorphic stones particularly those that have been found by the oceans and have been smoothed by sand and surf. Their high ore content enables them to hold heat from 30 to 45 minutes. Sedimentary stones do not work well for Hot Stone Therapy as they crack under the pressure of being heated and cooled. When looking for stones most practitioners look for flat, smooth stones that easily fit the contours of the body. A stone with texture can be used to exfoliate the body in certain therapies. Most practitioners use between 20 to 50 stones. Some practitioners choose to hand pick their stones but they can be purchased as well.

There are Hot, Warm, Cool, & Cold Stone Therapies. The most frequently used is Warm & Cool as they are not as extreme for our bodies.

In Hot Stone (warm) Therapy the restoring stones for laying on the body are between 80 - 110 degrees F., for massage they are slightly warmer between 120 – 135 degrees as the stones are in motion. Aromatherapy or unscented carrier oil is used to help the stones glide across the body for the massage.

Cool Stones would be refrigerated, not frozen and are great for inflammation and lymphatic drainage. This is also great for a cool ‘Moonstone Facial’. Absolutely heavenly!!!

Although ‘Hot Stone Massage’ is a gentle, restorative healing modality which is safe and effective for most people, some precautions do apply. You would not give a Hot Stone Massage to a cancer patient or someone with shingles, eczema, or psoriasis. You would not massage over open sores, lesions or inflammation. Warm or cool stones and gentle pressure are best for people with high or low blood pressure, diabetes, children, the elderly or prenatal clients.

All You Need Is Love

Just imagine you’re not a Beatles fan, but you find yourself grieving over the untimely death of John Lennon. Just imagine your grief is so overwhelming your life falls apart. Are you crazy or is there a deeper stranger reason? This was my mystery!

I was a young wife and mother, living in British Columbia, when John Lennon was murdered in 1980. The astonishing news changed my life forever. I grieved quietly, hiding my pain over the loss of the treasured rock star. Was I angry at myself for not seeking John out before he died? For not paying attention to where he lived, or what songs he wrote? Had I lost my mind? Three years later, I called my psychic mother. “What’s wrong with me?”

My mother visualized an incredible scenerio. Me, in the 1400’s in southern England, in a different body. My name was Katherine St. James. I loved a man named John Baron, who in this lifetime was John Lennon! She described the sad story of how John and Katherine (in their teens), fell passionately in love and planned to marry. I, as Katherine, was devastated when John died suddenly of tuberculosis. She died shortly after with a broken heart. I was shocked at how profoundly I felt Katherine’s pain...300 years later! Could this be true? My skeptical husband only reinforced my own doubts, yet with my despair and longing so deep, I had to search for the truth. But where? How?

My mother psychically saw John and Katherine living near Stonehenge in a small town called Castlemere. A librarian suggested I contact the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; the Mormons, who have records from church parishs’ all over the world. Imagine my thrill when I learned that Castlemere existed! Actually, it was the Castle of Mere, in a small village Mere, in Wiltshire near Stonehenge.

In 1985, I flew to Mere, England to verify John and Katherine’s past. The trip was a disaster. There were no St. James or Barons from the 1400s, and although there were Barons from the 1600s in Mere, that was two centuries later. I arrived back in Canada defeated and feeling like a fool. On my return home, a taped letter from my sister Konni, was waiting in my mailbox, sending my hopes soaring again. Konni suffered from multiple sclerosis and as her body weakened, her intuitive awareness blossomed. I listened in disbelief as my sister told me John and Katherine did exist, but in the 1600s, in Petworth, somewhere in England. She also said Katherine’s name was James not Saint James.

“Here we go again, eh?” my husband responded. I didn’t care. I knew I was about to uncover my mind-boggling truth. Konni’s words led me to a town called Petworth where I found my birth record on microfilm. Katherine James christened Feb. 24, 1666, in Petworth Sussex; father Robert James. This opened a floodgate of subconscious memories - a story which spilled on to paper. It took seven days to recollect the life of Katherine James, who loved and lost her soul mate John Baron. I then took my search to a higher level and underwent a past life regression. Under hypnosis, I felt Katherine’s life and visualized the town and my home. I knew I had to return to England to experience it for real. My marriage now suffered and friendships tested, but I had no choice. I was obsessed.

I arrived in Petworth on a sunny afternoon in 1990. Within days, most of my past life recollections were corroborated. The scenes from my chanelled account actually existed! Two psychics in Petworth, who didn’t know me, also felt John Lennon’s spirit. I began to write!...and in 1995, the same year as my divorce, I published my first book.

I now return to my ‘past life home’ often. So imagine how I was stunned to learn that Petworth, was chosen to display John Lennon art show! That small town, one of four chosen galleries in Britain, would display John Lennon’s art for 13 days in Nov. 2001, including nine drawings from Yoko Ono’s private collection, never seen before in public. Finally, John, like Katherine, had returned home.

Vibrational Communication: Whales

Whales are amazing social creatures that use sound and vibration to communicate with each other and their environment. Communication is an essential ingredient of the glue that brings harmony to the orca community. They have three main categories for communication; clicks, pulsed calls and whistles.

The clicks are part of the whales sonar and are used for echolocation: for finding and locating food sources, for defining other objects in the ocean and locating other whales in its environment.

Calls are pulsed signals which have discrete patterns that can be recognized by ear and by spectrogram. They are the main component of the orca communication repertoire.

Dr. John Ford categorized the discrete call types for the orcas of Washington State and British Columbia. He discovered that each pod has its own collection of calls which he referred to as their “dialect”, which help them to keep together in the large waters and during large gatherings. He was then able to define larger acoustic groups or “clans” by grouping together pods which share common calls. Only pods which share common calls are part of that clan.

Tonal Sounds called whistles are more associated with close range interactions like socializing, which are typically continuous tone emissions that may last for many seconds. They seem to assist in motivating these social interactions and aerial displays like breaching, flipping, fluke slapping, chasing each other, and rolling over each other.

As Orca whales are extremely social and family oriented creatures they have much we can learn from. Here is a brief description of how they live in community.

Orcas live in small nuclear families called pods and gather together into clans, which are closely related whales, like extended families.

At the social heart of the pod is the orca mother. She and her children, even her adult sons, stay together throughout life. Adult daughters who have their own offspring may separate from their mother to some extent, in order to take care of their children’s need, but will usually be found traveling nearby.

Clans are defined as pods which share common calls in terms of acoustic tradition. Pods with different pulsed calls are not from the same clans, however, the difference in vocal types does not seem to limit the pods and groups within different communities from coming together and socializing.

As seen in some communities, preceding the arrival of a new group, one of the more frequent user groups may leave the area in order to “escort” the new group into the area.

The whole community is a support system for each individual; everyone is there for each other. Overt violence or aggressive behaviour between individuals, even among males, has never been observed. Instead, orca society is marked by co-operation, co-ordination, communication, trust and acceptance.

Interesting Facts about Orca Whales

Baby orcas are born tail first and take their first breath within 10 seconds usually assisted by their mother. They are swimming after only 30 minutes.

As a killer whale ages it makes growth layers of dental material. If the teeth are cut crossed sectioned you can count their age, like rings on a tree.

They rarely eat during mating season.

Orcas skin is relatively thin and very sensitive. They like to rub their bodies on each other and even scratch each other by raking their teeth over different areas. In the Pacific Northwest, some orcas like to rub their bodies in the shallows of special beaches which are covered in small smooth stones. The whales dive, blow out air as bubbles, to lessen their buoyancy, and then skim their bodies over the stones. Sometimes several whales will use the beach at one time, but they will also take turns, waiting a short distance offshore for their turn.

Oh YES, there is plenty we can learn from these giant record keepers of the deep! Many believe the pods are on energetic alert at this time, on guard to hold sacred space for us so we may transform quickly. That may or not be true, but either or, they are certainly willing to teach us more about their communication system if we are quiet enough to listen to that heart of hearts within us.

Woogie Boogie or Science?

Are you one of the many people who accept healing work on faith? Do you follow your intuition? Or are you like countless others who need some sort of scientific validation? Fear not! There is a scientific basis to even the most ‘woogie boogie’ of healing approaches.

Conventional medicine is based on the Newtonian paradigm which sees the body as a machine controlled by the brain and peripheral nervous system. This mechanistic view suggests that the whole of the body only functions as good as the sum of its parts. It also dictates that doctors focus on disease and fix what malfunctions. Doctors practicing from a purely conventional perspective are not concerned with, nor do they necessarily believe in, a vital source that breathes life into living systems.

Energy medicine, which includes everything from acupuncture and naturopathy to homeopathy and Electro-Crystal Rebalancing, is based on the Einsteinian paradigm. Einstein proved that energy and matter are dual expressions of the same universal substance. In other words, the only difference between the air that we breathe and the body breathing it is the frequency of the vibration of the molecules.

In his book Vibrational Medicine, Dr. Richard Gerber (ISBN 1-979181-28-2 -1996) describes an animating life-force which “distinguishes living from nonliving systems, and people from machines”. It is this life-force, he elaborates, that creates a synergy of molecular components that render the living whole to be greater than the sum of its parts.

One of the reasons subtle energy forces are not a part of conventional medicine is because they cannot be measured by scientific means. However, in the early 1960’s Dr. Bernard Grad of McGill University in Montreal made an attempt to measure subtle energy effects on living systems. His goal was to distinguish these energy effects from the placebo effect, which is influenced by the emotions. To accomplish this he filled numerous containers with saline solution. Half of the containers he had treated by laying-onof- hands healers. The other half were not treated. The project was to sprout barley seeds with this water, knowing full well that salt water is not conducive to the germination of plants.

The lab assistants were unaware of which containers were ‘treated’ and which were not. Once the seeds were treated with the saline solution they were placed in an incubator and studied for signs of germination and growth. The seeds germinated in the healer-treated water sprouted more often than those in the regular saline solution. All the seedlings were potted and placed under the same conditions. The seedlings continued to be watered with the same solution they were germinated in. By the end of several weeks Grad discovered that the healer-treated plants grew taller and contained more chlorophyll than the others. His work was repeated in his lab as well as other labs in the United States, with different healers, but obtaining the same results.

Grad repeated this experiment in a psychiatric hospital with depressed patients and found the opposite results. The patient-treated water suppressed the growth rate of the seedlings. Grad was given an award for his laying-on-of-hands research by the CIBA Foundation which is a scientific foundation funded by a major pharmaceutical company.

So you see, it isn’t all woogie boogie. Those folks who resonate with scientific research and trust their intellects rather that their intuition (thank goodness for our different approaches) may enjoy reading the updated version of Gerber’s book, Vibrational Medicine: New Choices for Healing Ourselves.

The Pulsor® Energy Balancing

The Pulsor® Energy Balancing was developed over fifteen years ago by the late Dr. George F. Yao, a Naturopathic Doctor who lived and practiced in California.

Dr. Yao was a brilliant doctor, with a scientific background working as an aerospace engineer at Hughes Aircraft in California. His work focused on materials and crystals, developing materials to cover the re-entry modules of the first American satellites. He adapted his knowledge to the invention of the Pulsor®.

It was introduced to the Island in 1996 by Turc Dancer, a California practitioner who had recovered from Chronic Fatigue under the care of Dr. Yao. He was associated with the Health Restoration Project, a group researching self recovery from Chronic Fatigue / Fibromyalgia and provided his Pulsor® balancing to the HRP groups here. Some attributed their first Pulsor® session to the turning point of their healing journey.

What is a Pulsor®, then? It is a unique device which is not magnetic, and not electrical, but uses a resonance to achieve results, rather than the application of outer powers. It does not require the use of the practitioner’s energy, nor any outside channeled energy. It is millions of specifically designed bioresonant microcrystals that are packed in a precise manner inside a suitable plastic casing in the shape of a small donut.

The Pulsor® is capable of clearing and harmonizing energies on the physical, emotional, and mental bodies. There is a special tool designed for Feng Shui practitioners to effectively handle hard to clear electromagnetic, geopathic, and psychic energies. It is a useful tool also for those who find they are electromagnetically or chemically sensitive, as it successfully addresses the harmful effects of electromagnetic radiation (EMF) from computers, appliances, cellular phones and automobiles, or for personal protection in the outside world.

Dr. Yao, described and named the main energy systems outside the body, the Primal Vortex Energy (PVE) circuits. He taught that these three circuits are the most important human energy fields. They feed, or step down energy to the other ten energy systems (the acupuncture meridians, circulatory system, nervous system, etc.). When the PVE system is not balanced or operating correctly, it is only a matter of time until the other systems become weak or reversed as well, thereby affecting the relative organs. When this primal system is spinning correctly (some vortices spin clockwise, some, counter clockwise) all other body systems will automatically come into balance creating relaxation, peace of mind, vibrant health and the opportunity for spiritual attainment.

A Pulsor® balancing session is passive and restful. The therapist will dowse or use muscle testing to select the Pulsor tools that are required for the clearing and rebalancing of the client’s energy fields. With a series of hand movements over a reclined client, a half hour session cleanses, restores and balances the persons energies. The results range from pleasant relaxation/ re-energizing, to major shifts of energy requiring assimilation and rest. Vanishing aches and pains, relief from headaches, toothaches, burns, or pain from surgery are all possible with Pulsor®. as well as the restoration of sound restful sleep, and shifts in mood or feeling of wellbeing and peace of mind.

For those requiring more hard scientific proof of something that cannot be seen with the eyes, * laboratory studies have been done with fluorescent lighting that indicate significant beneficial effects to the blood enzymes with Pulsor® use; * Kirlian photography that visibly illustrates the increase in the human aura using Pulsors; and also * live blood cell photographs before and after using Pulsor®. These various tests indicate a very positive response in the energy field after the use of Pulsor® and are available online at www.pulsor.org
